Ling Xia aspired to be a
poet in her grade school days, but the fate has taken her on a prolific career
path, including intellectual property lawyer, literary agent,
journalist/editor, writer, translator, and, last but not least,
photographer.
Ling has always had an
intense interest in photography and won awards since her 20s. Her photographs
are currently sold through galleries, art shops and international stock
photography agencies, including Alamy, iStockphoto, Dreamstime, Fotolia, 123RF, StockXpert
and others. Her buyers include many corporations and
individuals in North America, Europe and Asia.
Ling acted as a Master of Ceremonies to introduce some
internationally known photographers at the 2006 Canadian Camera Conference.
She is currently a member of the Toronto Camera Club and was a member of Toronto Guild of
Photographic Art.
She was the literary agent and a co-translator for the Chinese
version of "Two Innocents in Red China", a book by the former Prime Minister
Pierre Trudeau and the Honorable Jacques Hebert, former Canadian Senator and Nobel Peace Prize Nominee. She also translated a well-known
Chinese photographer’s book on Paralympics into English. Her writings have appeared in Globe & Mail, Toronto Star,
London Free Press, the World Journal and many other English and Chinese publications. Always an avid
learner and traveler, her journey continues in Canada and the
world.
